The KGSt is the German Association of Local Government Chief Executives.

For 73 years, the KGSt has stood for recommendations, concepts and solutions to current and relevant questions of local government management.

We operate independently of the state and political parties. Our members include cities, districts, municipalities and administrative organisations of all sizes from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Around 2,400 municipalities with a total of over 80 million inhabitants have already been convinced by our offering.

We support the management and staff at all organisational levels in the process of administrative modernisation. Together with local government practitioners, we develop holistic strategies and innovative solutions in financial, organisational, personnel and information management.

We also address local government specialist topics such as social affairs, culture or economic development.

We cooperate with local government umbrella associations, innovative local authorities in our neighbouring countries, universities and the private sector. This enables us to tap into additional expertise.
